ProjectOUTREACH
Destination ImagiNation® adds community service program
As its latest creative problem solving Challenge for youth, the National Dairy Council is proud to sponsor this initiative enriching local quality of life.
projectOUTREACH® will be included in the lineup of creative problem solving Challenges for the 2008-2009 Challenge season. The addition of projectOUTREACH brings to six the number of Challenges in which school age youth worldwide can participate as they work toward earning a spot at worldwide Global Finals in May of 2009. “By applying the creative problem solving processes we have developed over the past 25 years, there is so much good that can be done to improve the quality of life in our local communities,” declared Rusty McCarty, President of Destination ImagiNation Inc., a worldwide non-profit based in Glassboro, NJ. “We look forward to having hundreds and perhaps thousands of young people thinking creatively to serve and enrich the communities in which they live.”
Participating in projectOUTREACH
will take Destination ImagiNation’s core values of creativity, problem
solving, and teamwork into the real world as teams design and implement local
projects that will yield positive, visible results for their communities and
neighborhoods.
National Dairy Council is Prime Sponsor
The National Dairy Council is sponsoring the projectOUTREACH competition this
season, offering to fund participation fees for teams choosing to take part.
By supporting projectOUTREACH, The National Dairy Council is encouraging young
people to use creative problem solving techniques to participate in community
enrichment and improvement activities that will have lasting effects. This
season, the Destination ImagiNation projectOUTREACH Challenge invites teams
to “Take Charge!” Teams of middle school, high school, and university-aged
students will seek to increase their peers’ physical and mental health
by rallying them to eat better and become more physically active.
They will design projects that mobilize their peers to take action and increase the in-school availability and consumption of the Four Food Groups: low-fat and fat-free milk and milk products, vegetables, fruits, whole grains.
To execute projects successfully,
teams must manage their issue-based initiatives and track their progress and
results using qualitative and quantitative data. projectOUTREACH teams will
demonstrate and illustrate their process and results during the Tournament
phase of the project, which involves a Presentation, Exhibit, Portfolio, and
problem-solving Simulation to be evaluated by Appraisers at Regional and Affiliate
Tournaments and at Destination ImagiNation Global Finals.
Teams interested in participating in projectOUTREACH should contact their
local Regional or Affiliate Directors to see if the Challenge is available
to them. Teams who participate will find that they really can change the world
through creativity, problem solving, and teamwork. For more information, click
